Has it Really Been a Month?

I just took a look at the calendar and realized it's almost been an entire month since I have posted anything new here. Things have gotten pretty crazy for me over the last several weeks. I'll shoot for a quick update here to let everyone know what's been happening.
  • Probably the biggest news in my life right now comes from work. One of my Hall Directors resigned a few weeks ago and that has had a pretty significant impact on my free time. While the responsibilities in the affected hall have been split up amongst the remaining staff, I have stepped into the primary supervisor role for the student staff in the building. I run their weekly staff meetings, have 1-1 meeting with all thirteen of them, and deal with a lot of the daily issues that come up. I've even picked up a few judicial cases from the building - though that won't be my primary role. Anyway, I'm really enjoying acting as a Hall Director again and the staff seems to be responding well to me. That said, it's going to be along remaining couple weeks of the semester as I try to balance the needs of my new staff with my Area Coordinator responsibilities.
  • Wedding planning is coming right along. I have been informed it's time for me to become more involved in the wedding planning process. I guess that whole living four hours away things was only going to work for so long. :) But, seriously... with the wedding around three months away we're starting to get down to the final details and both of us have a lot of work to do. Can't wait!
  • Dakota has proven to have quite an appetite... for furniture. I had started leaving her out of her cage while I was away in January. For a couple of weeks she did great. Then, she ate my telephone. Then, she ate a pillow. Then, she ate the same pillow again (it was a test... she failed). Then, she failed the same test... again. So, back to the crate it was. This week has been really tough for me as I've had to work well into the evening all three nights. So, I figured now would be a good time to let her out again. I didn't like the idea of her being in a cage 17+ hours a day at all. But, sadly, today was a failure extraordinaire... she ate my couch. Yes, now I have a matched set of ottoman and couch which are ripped open. I came home to find stuffing out over the floor. So, Dakota's cage days are pretty established so it would seem. It may finally be time for obedience training. Grrr...
  • I did finally wrap up the painting of the apartment. It looks really great! I do have some touch up to do in a few places, but I think I'm saving that for spring break. I need my down time when I get home at night these days.
  • Other than that, I'm headed home this weekend. I have a meeting in Columbia on Friday. I'm on the MoCPA (Missouri College Personnel Association) committee which puts on the annual statewide conference and we have a midday meeting. It will make for a nice three day weekend for me at home as the meeting should only last for a couple of hours. The rest of my time will be in Mexico doing more wedding prep.

That's what's new in my life. I'll try to get back on a more regular posting schedule again soon. Cheers!
